I am a Reader (Associate Professor) in Computer Science at the University of Lincoln. I hold a Laurea in Electronic Engineering from the University of Padua and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Essex. Before moving to Lincoln, I was a postdoc at the University of Oxford. I also worked for several years in the industry developing and programming embedded systems.
My research interests are mostly in machine perception of humans for robotics and autonomous systems, from low-level detection and tracking, to high-level behaviour understanding and reasoning. These include methods for multisensor data fusion, active vision and qualitative spatial representation. Currently, I am a working on two large collaborative projects, RASberry and FLOBOT, and on a project sponsored by a Google Faculty Research Award, called ActiVis. Until recently, I was also a PI in the ENRICHME project.
