I am a Reader (Associate Professor) in Computer Science at the University of Lincoln. My research interests are mostly in machine perception for robotics and autonomous systems, including sensor fusion, active vision and qualitative spatial reasoning. I hold a Laurea in Electronic Engineering from the University of Padua and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Essex. Before moving to Lincoln, I was a postdoc at the University of Oxford. I worked also many years in the industry as embedded systems software developer. Currently, I am a Principal Investigator in two large EU H2020 projects, ENRICHME and FLOBOT, and the recipient of a Google Faculty Research Award, which is partially sponsoring another project, called ActiVis.
